Billionaire businessman Elon Musk has called for the dismissal of US Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle. Musk’s statement came in response to the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

In a series of social media posts, Musk criticized the Secret Service for failing to detect Trump’s attacker before he fired shots. He attributed this failure to either extreme incompetence or a deliberate act.

Musk also publicly endorsed Trump’s 2024 presidential bid and wished him a swift recovery following the attack, expressing his full support for Trump’s candidacy.

In one post, Musk wrote, “I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery.”

Responding to a social media user who questioned how a sniper with a full rifle kit was able to get close to Trump, Musk said, “Extreme incompetence or it was deliberate. Either way, the SS (Secret Service) leadership must resign.”

Musk also reacted to a trending video of a witness who told the BBC how he and others spotted the shooter and alerted the Secret Service but were ignored. Musk commented, “The head of the Secret Service and the leader of this security detail should resign.”

SaharaReporters earlier reported that the US House Oversight Committee, a key investigative body, had summoned Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle to testify at a hearing scheduled for July 22 regarding the Trump assassination attempt.

In a statement, the committee emphasized the public’s need for information and clarity on this matter, stating, “Americans demand answers about the assassination attempt on President Trump.”

Musk’s comments have intensified the scrutiny on the Secret Service’s handling of the situation and have added pressure on its leadership to provide explanations.

The hearing on July 22 is expected to be a crucial moment for the Secret Service as it faces questions about its ability to protect high-profile figures.
